History

With roots in Queensland’s rich past, Braeside offers a sense of timeless heritage. The Homestead features its original hand-cut iron bark slab walls and shingles, still intact and beautifully displayed in the cut-out windows of the lounge room. The iconic turret, once a beacon for stagecoaches, stands as a testament to the property’s storied history. Experience a farm stay that honours its past while embracing the future.

Mid-1870s

Braeside Homestead was established.

1879

Queensland pastoralist, politician and businessman William Allan began developing the property as a model stud farm.

1887

Braeside was identified in the local electoral roll as both the grazing property and a locality. It’s not certain who named the property.

1950s

The Cottage, originally the kitchen wing of The Homestead, was relocated to its current position to serve as a manager’s residence.

2012

A large modern extension was built, now called Braeside Residence.
